Face and Neck Lifting

Face and Neck Lifting

The procedure of face and neck lifting offers a solution to problems related to aging symptoms such as wrinkles, looser skin etc. If it is necessary to also perform operations on the eyelids, we recommend that it be done after the face lifting. The maximum effect can be achieved if an operation is made in an optimum age range, with respect to the type of face and the quality and elasticity of skin.

Before making any decision, it is highly recommended to arrange for a personal consultation with an experienced, licensed plastic surgeon. A good state of health is a pre-requisite. This fact also determines the upper age limit for this procedure.

The operation removes excess skin in the neck and face and results in partial smoothing of some wrinkles. However, please note that the wrinkles are caused by mimic of the muscles, and this varies with each individual. Therefore, it is not possible to remove the following with this surgery: permanent perpendicular wrinkles on the upper and lower lips, and forehead wrinkles. An operation cannot stop the aging process, however, it can postpone the appearance of its symptoms by several years, after which this procedure can be repeated.

Pre-operative Instructions

After a consultation with your plastic surgeon and arranging for the operation date, you shall undergo an internal pre-operation examination. If, after the first consultation, there are any concerns about the surgery, another consultation can be arranged.

Post-operative Period

Patients stay at the clinic overnight and are usually released the following morning. It is recommended to rest well for 3 to 4 days following the surgery. The bandages are removed on the fourth or fifth day after the operation.

Facial or eyelid swelling are common side effects of the surgery and are the most visible on the fourth or fifth day after the operation. Also, feelings of tension and sensitivity disturbances are common. These will disappear in a couple of weeks.

After the bandages are removed, hair should be washed and the healing continues without bandages, with regular showering once a day. We recommend wearing a scarf at night to protect the face. Removing the stitches is done at the next visit, ten to fourteen days after the surgery.
