Doctor Accreditation
The doctors and surgeons are trained to the same high standards as in the United Kingdom and most have actually trained in the UK and are registered with the British General Medical Council and are fluent in English. The clinics, hospitals and surgeries are modern, clean, have extremely low rates of post operative infection and have state of the art equipments. The basic qualification for a medical profession is a MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) a Five and a half year course. After MBBS, candidates can go for post graduate level studies (MD or MS) and at post graduate level they can specialize in Medicine and Surgery. Post Graduate Programs (MD or MS) last three years. Those with Post Graduation (MD or MS or MSc in Medicine) can further opt for super-specialization. i.e. they can go for Ph.D in any specialized area of medicine. MD or MS holders can complete the Doctoral Programme (Ph.D) in two years and M.Sc Medicine holders in three years.
All physicians or surgeons need to have completed the MBBS course at a recognized medical college. In order to practice in India doctors must be registered and certified by the Indian Medical Council which is the equivalent of the UK’s General Medical Council and all surgeons must be registered with the Association of Surgeons of India.
Cosmetic surgeons may be registered with the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India.

Travel & Accomodation
Although 12 – 18 hours from the UK, there are frequent services available with a variety of airlines. The disadvantages of flight times and distance are far outweighed by the cost of surgery and the beautiful country as a seriously relaxing place to visit and recuperate in.
Flights typically cost between £300 - £500 return and accommodation anything from £45 a night for up to two people.
