Liposuction / Liposculpture
Before any decision is made, it highly recommended to arrange for a personal consultation with an experienced, licensed plastic surgeon. A state of good health is a natural prerequisite. Please note that the total amount of fat removed at any time should not be more than 2.5 L -- to avoid any complications of the general state of health. Where the fat tissue is more extensive, the surgery should be done repeatedly at 6 to 12 month intervals.
The optimal age for liposuction is 18-45 years because contractility and elasticity of the skin are sufficiently vital for the surgery to be successful. However, with older age patients, liposuction may be done with very good results in terms of reducing the fatty tissue volume; but the risk of small subcutaneous uneven patches increases.

Pre-operative Instructions
One month before the operation, do not use any medications containing acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin etc.). It can increase bleeding during and after the surgery. It is assumed that no acute illnesses occurred in the period of at least three weeks before the planned operation (viral illness, cold, etc.). Report any and all illnesses to the clinic. Drink two to three liters of mineral water daily three days before the operation, however, 6 hours before the operation do not drink, eat, or smoke. Have a good night’s sleep the night before the operation; you should be well rested before the operation. No alcohol may be consumed the night before the operation. Wash your hair the day before the operation and do not put any facial cream, milk or make-up on the day of the operation. Any jewelry, including earrings, should not be worn. We recommend for you to be accompanied by a close person in the time of your stay in Prague, at the clinic and in your hotel/suite. Immediately after the operation, you must not drive any vehicle by yourself.
Operation
Before the operation the surgeon measures the amount of fat deposits while the patient is standing and marks the more extensive areas of fat deposits on the patient’s skin with a pen. This operation is performed under general anaesthesia. The small tool to remove fatty tissue, called a canula, is inserted under the skin through small incisions 4 to 6 mm in length, conducted in the least visible locations. Then, the fat deposits are reduced with suction provided by a vacuum pump.
The thickness of fat layer and the elasticity of the skin is monitored throughout the entire operation to determine how much fat could be removed and to ensure symmetry. The small skin cuts are sutured with just one or two stitches with surgical tape. Immediately after the surgery, the patient is dressed in elastic compressive pants or garments. The operation takes approximately one hour, depending on the amount of fat to be removed.

Postoperative Period
Patients stay at the clinic overnight and are usually released the next morning. It is recommended to rest well for 3 to 4 days following the surgery. Any walking should be restricted to only the most necessary needs (toilet, bathroom, eating). Gradually, the patient can start with a mild, only slowly increasing load. Unrestricted physical activity may be resumed roughly four weeks after the surgery. In the post-operative period, there will be some pain and the patient may feel some discomfort or numbness to the areas operated on. Also, bruising will occur on the operated locations.
Patients should keep their elastic pants or other garments on for three days. On the fourth day, they can remove the pants and take a shower. Immediately after the shower, the elastic pants should be put on again. During the first month after the surgery, the elastic pants can be taken off only for the time needed for personal hygiene and care.
Sutures are removed on the 7th to 10th day after the surgery. Massages of the operated locations should be performed with a roller several times a day; this technique will be demonstrated and taught to the patient during the suture removal.
Liposculpture (Fat Transfer)
In fat transfer, also known as liposculpture, fat is taken from one area of your body, such as the thighs or stomach, and injected into another area to fill it out. The operation is undertaken for men and women where all other available forms of treatment have failed to remove localized areas of fat. The adipose (fatty) tissue itself is the best material to fill up deep wrinkles or replace missing tissues, with excellent long-lasting results and minimal risk for patients.
Fat transfer can be used on your face to improve the appearance of wrinkles, crow's feet, laughter lines, some types of scar, sunken cheeks and other indented areas of skin. It can also be used to fill out and rejuvenate the back of your hands.

During fat transfer your specialist will identify a suitable donor site and make a small cut in the area. A tube is then placed into the incision site and fat is removed into a syringe. Fat cells are then inserted into the destination area to create the desired effect. When applied, the risk of allergy or transmission of infectious diseases is avoided. This fat transplant grows into the neighbouring tissue; in addition it contains a high amount of female hormones which leads to additional improvement in the quality of skin.
Liposculpture results tend to last longer than some temporary synthetic fillers, but it is not a permanent treatment and the fat will gradually be reabsorbed into the body over time. Only minor complications have been reported, like mild inflammation in the area of application or fat dissolution. No long-lasting adverse effects have been reported.
Liposculpture may be used in conjunction with other treatments such as laser resurfacing or chemical peels to treat severe facial wrinkles.
