Why Spain?
In recent years Spain has become a popular choice for cosmetic surgery, and this is mostly due to the affinity that British people have with Spain. Many British people have invested in Spanish property and own holiday homes by the coast so they can retreat to the privacy of their homes after having treatment. Also, Spain is very close to home - just a short-haul flight from the UK so along with the arrival of high quality clinics Spain is a very popular medical tourism destination.
Doctor Accreditation
Many of the surgeons in Spain are registered with the General Medical Council in the UK. Surgeons study for a general medical degree for five to six years at university and then they have an attachment to a teaching hospital. In Spain the term Licenciado confirms that a surgeon has a medical degree and is licenced.

Travel & Accomodation
There are plenty of other reasons to choose Spain for surgery; firstly, there is an abundance of low cost airlines flying from the UK (with flights from as little as £19.99 one way) and the journey time is very short (around two and a half hours). Secondly, due to the large expat population there are plenty of English speaking facilities so communication isnt a problem. Thirdly, many of the surgeries and clinics are located in some of Spains sunniest locations so that patients can benefit from a warm and soothing environment for a relaxing recovery break after their surgery, such as in the sandy and exclusive resorts of Marbella, Torremolinos and Fuengirola in the sunny Costa del Sol returning home feeling well, rested and healthy.
